We value quality workmanship, reliability, teamwork and safe working practices. We are seeking two experienced Residential Painters to join our construction team. Position details - Position: Residential Painter - Number of vacancies: Two - Work location: Christchurch, Canterbury - Employment type: Permanent, full-time - Minimum guaranteed hours: 30 hours per week - Maximum available hours: Up to 50 hours per week, depending on project requirements - Pay: NZD $25.00 to $30.00 gross per hour, depending on relevant experience and ability - Workplaces: Residential properties and construction sites across Christchurch About the role You will undertake interior and exterior painting and surface-finishing work on residential properties, including new builds, renovations and maintenance projects. The position requires high-quality workmanship, compliance with relevant industry standards and adherence to workplace health and safety requirements. Duties and responsibilities - Prepare interior and exterior surfaces by washing, scraping, sanding, stripping, filling, sealing and priming. - Repair minor surface defects, including cracks, holes, water damage and minor plaster damage. - Mask, cover and protect fixtures, fittings, floors, furniture and surrounding areas. - Apply paint, varnish, stains, sealants and other protective coatings using brushes, rollers and spray equipment. - Mix, match and select paints and coatings in accordance with work instructions and job specifications. - Paint walls, ceilings, trims, doors, roofs and other residential surfaces. - Read and follow work instructions, plans and job specifications. - Ensure completed work meets company quality standards, applicable building requirements and client expectations. - Maintain a clean and safe worksite. - Clean work areas, tools and equipment after completing assigned tasks. - Comply with all workplace health and safety policies and procedures. - Work independently and collaboratively with supervisors and other team members. - Meet project deadlines and reasonable productivity targets. - Communicate effectively with supervisors and clients where required. Minimum requirements Applicants must have: - At least two years of relevant and verifiable painting work experience. - Experience carrying out interior and exterior residential painting. - The ability to perform the advertised duties safely and to the required standard.
